Star Bernadette Reveals Her Experiences Working On Riverdale

Pop news hots up further as CW hit series actress Bernadette Beck joins Riverdale co-star Vanessa Morgan in a show of solidarity to condemn the treatment of black characters on Riverdale. Earlier, Morgan said she was "tired of how Black people are portrayed in Media" and being used as "sidekick non-dimensional characters to our white leads."

Bernadette, who plays the role of Peaches ‘N Cream, spoke to Elle magazine recently. Beck criticized black representation in the media, and on Riverdale. According to Bernadette, her character was very unlikable with little to no back story, often appearing in the background.

“I get it, there’s always a protagonist and antagonist, but I never had much of a story plot or enough character development to even be considered an antagonist,” said the 26-year-old actress. “I was, for no reason, depicted in a very negative, unattractive light. And I’m not the first Black actress to show up on set, stand there, chew gum, and look sassy and mean. I feel like I was just there to fulfill a diversity quota. It’s just to fulfill points.”

Given the lack of any attention, she feels that it was portrayed in a very unattractive light. She feels that she was there to fulfill a diversity quota and was completely forgotten in a scene more than once.

“You can’t treat people like they’re invisible and then pat yourself on the back for meeting your diversity quota for the day,” Beck said.

In more celebrity gossip, the actress claims that white actors are getting a lot more character development and screen time leading to massive audience followings.
